Siemens and Arm Use Hardware-Assisted Verification for AGI CPU Validation

Hardware-assisted verification is becoming increasingly important as AI chips grow larger, more complex and more software-dependent. A recent collaboration between Siemens and Arm demonstrates how hardware-assisted verification (HAV) is helping validate next-generation AI infrastructure before tapeout.

According to Siemens, its Veloce™ Strato CS platform was used to support verification of the new Arm AGI CPU, built on the Arm Neoverse® Compute Subsystem (CSS) V3 platform. The processor is designed for high-performance, energy-efficient compute targeting agentic AI and hyperscale cloud deployments.

Why Hardware-Assisted Verification Matters for Modern SoCs

The announcement highlights how HAV is evolving into a critical part of modern ASIC development workflows. As SoCs integrate multi-die architectures, PCIe Gen6, NVMe, CXL, and increasingly complex interconnects, traditional simulation-only approaches are becoming harder to scale efficiently.

Siemens shared that Arm used multiple towers of Veloce Strato CS for subsystem and full-system verification. This enabled validation of performance, latency, and power targets before silicon availability – an increasingly important requirement for hyperscale deployments where delays can significantly impact schedules and costs.

Pre-Silicon Software Validation and FPGA Prototyping

The collaboration also demonstrates the growing role of pre-silicon software development in AI chip projects. Siemens’ Veloce proFPGA CS prototyping platform was reportedly used to accelerate software validation and system bring-up ahead of tapeout, helping software teams begin validation, driver development, and system bring-up months ahead of silicon availability.

For verification engineers, the announcement reflects several broader industry trends:

As AI compute platforms continue to evolve, hardware-assisted verification is becoming increasingly important for validating complex SoCs at scale. For ASIC and verification teams, the ability to combine emulation, prototyping, and full-system validation earlier in the design cycle is becoming critical for meeting aggressive performance and deployment targets.
